Children's Fitness Tax Credit

If you are still planning to take advantage of the 2007 children's fitness tax credit you are apparently filing your taxes late this year. Starting in the 2007 tax year, the Government of Canada allows a non-refundable tax credit for parents enrolling their kids in an eligible physical activity program, such as dance. To qualify, children must be under the age of 16 at the beginning of the year but other than that there are few restrictions. It is nice to see the government offering parents an incentive to keep their kids active.

Many activities and programs are eligible for this credit. To find out if the programs that you or your kids are enrolled in qualify for the credit, check out the eligibility checklist at: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/whatsnew/checklist-e.html
